Top Vulnerabilities

Google Chrome is the most widely used internet browser available right now and it’s among the top vulnerable browser across the globe. Recently, cyber attackers were able to insert bugs into browser directories which make chrome browsers crash frequently.

Google has confirmed that nearly 2.6 billion users have been affected by the Zero-day vulnerability. Google identified several top vulnerabilities that are being fixed in the chrome version 6.0.4664.110.

The Search Engine mentioned the CVE-221-37973 as a serious threat to the Chrome users using Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems. The company has planned to roll out Chrome 94.0.4606.61 stable channel version to eliminate all effects about Windows, Mac, and Linux chrome users.

As already mentioned above, the web browser manufacture has termed this security risk as a Zero-day vulnerability. This means the attack was already active before Google developers found and roll out an update to fix it. In September, other zero-day vulnerabilities were CVE-2021-30632, CVE 2021-3633, CVE-2021-37976, and CVE-2021-37975.

The CVE-2021-30632 is an out-of-bounds write which was embedded in the V8 JavaScript engine whereas the CVE-2021-30633 is a UAF (User After Free) bug found in the Indexed DB API. Both of these bugs often result in a browser crash.

Other Zero-day vulnerabilities of 2021 include:

  • CVE-2021-21148

  • CVE-2021-21166

  • CVE-2021-21193

  • CVE-2021-21220

  • CVE-2021-21224

  • CVE-2021-30551

  • CVE-2021-30554

  • CVE-2021-30563

All Chrome users were directed to install the latest security update to prevent any exploitation attempts. However, if you happen to face any hacking attempt then Salvador Technologies can help in cyber recovery with its excellent data backup and recovery service.

Potential Hazards of Recent Security Threats

The latest bugs were found in the V8 JavaScript engine and Indexed DB API. The bugs often result in tragic Chrome crashes. According to the reports, these bugs perform sandbox escapes, remote code execution, and other malicious behaviors.

Google said that these attacks were exploited in the wild and haven’t shared more information about them. Such type of vulnerability will obviously put your company’s data at stake unless until you’ve implemented some good measures to tackle all problems.

Keeping this in view, Salvador Technologies has its unique cyber recovery software to protect its client’s data from a potential threat. Our data backup and recovery system takes periodic backup of clients and keeps backup files up-to-date. This prevents the attackers from demanding ransomware for your important that is already backed up.

Chrome Update

As an initial step to counter bugs, Google has rolled out an initial update all around the world. Initially, the update was rolled out in the Stable desktop channel but later it was made available for the public. You can check the update by manually going through Chrome menu > Help > About Google Chrome. You’ll be able to find all the latest Google Chrome Updates.

It’s widely recommended by Google to install all Google Chrome Updates to get rid of these bugs. Google Said,

"Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third-party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven't yet fixed.

How To Install The latest Google Chrome Browser Update?

The update option will be available on the top right corner of the screen; you can download it from there. All users will need to click on the “Update” button to install the latest version of Google Chrome.

The updating process may take some time, so you need to have patience. Make sure to install the update as soon as possible before you become a victim of hacking attempts.
